Our therapy approach:

We provide individualized pediatric speech and language services to your home, the community, or in school.  Through play and movement, we utilize your child's naturalistic environment to create meaningful interactions. We incorporate intrinsically motivating and strengths-based activities to support your child's communication goals. Our goal is to empower children through neurodiversity affirming approaches and incorporate child-guided interests into our activities. We work with children with a variety of diagnoses and integrate a team approach to empower your entire family.

Ready, Set, Play Speech Therapy is a private pay practice, so speech and language services are self-pay. If your insurance plan includes out-of-network benefits for speech-language pathology services, we can provide you with information to submit for a potential reimbursement through a "superbill."

We have experience providing therapy in the following areas:

  • Echolalia/Scripting

  • Expression

  • Comprehension

  • Play Skills

  • Articulation and Phonology

  • Social Communication

  • Executive Functioning

Getting Started: Individual Therapy

Intake

We will send you intake forms and schedule a call to discuss your areas of concerns and how we can provide additional support for your child.

Evaluation

Some families opt for an abbreviated evaluation consisting of parent interview, observation, and informal and/or formal assessment measures. Individualized recommendations and a detailed report will be provided to determine your child's communication strengths and challenges.

Therapy

We provide individual therapy services in your home, at your child's school, and/ or in the community. We work collaboratively with families to provide education and support carryover strategies at home.

What Parents are Saying:

Emily was the first stable instructor in [our son's] life coming out of the pandemic. Emily has always been patient, kind, and caring with our son. What's special about Emily is how much she preps for our son. She always has a plan to help our son, or a different approach to better support him during difficult topics. Emily provided our son with the first sense of "normalcy" outside his home, and we've been elated by the progress he's made with such a wonderful instructor. We will always be grateful for Emily being a pillar in our son's life coming out of the pandemic. "

"Our son has been working with Emily for 4 years and he enjoys their time together so much. Emily has such a positive attitude, she is professional, caring and patient. Our son went from not speaking a single word to speaking full on sentences! Emily has made such a difference in his life and we couldn't be more grateful for that. We would highly recommend Emily to anyone who is considering speech therapy. She has worked wonders for our son!"

Our family is extremely fortunate to have found Emily Graves at "Ready, Set, Play Speech Therapy." My daughter was in speech therapy prior to our transitioning to Emily, and we noticed an immediate difference, just based on the way Emily engaged with her. Emily is certified in the NLA framework which is the model that should be used for our kids that are gestalt language processors (GLPs); I found her on the meaningful speech registry. Prior to Emily, a lot of the SLPs we had come across were using techniques like "sabotaging play", i.e. keeping down the page to prompt the kid to say "turn the page." This approach did not work with our daughter; she would grow frustrated, would disengage, and not want to communicate. Emily came in on day 1 and stressed the importance of connection, play and strength-based approach to speech therapy. Our daughter immediately fell in love with her, and now yells "It's Emily!" every time she comes for session. Her language has exploded within a matter of months. Emily approaches communication in an organic way. Words cannot properly describe how very fortunate and grateful we feel to have found her!!
